faq
where do you find your content? most of my content is from tumblr, weheartit, or reposts of other positivity accounts. i write some of it, and i’ll always tag my writing account on my original content. all content is credited in the caption, and tagged on the post (if the author has an instagram account).
how did you get so many followers? time and patience. i’ve been running this account for about five years now, and it’s taken that long to get to the point where my content generates engagement without much work. i’ve discovered that the key is posting quotes that people genuinely relate to. people love to tag their friends on quotes, and even repost meaningful ones, and this is truly what draws followers to an account. in addition, i try to post two to four times a day, which i’ve found definitely leads to a boost in interaction. always respond to comments and be active, and the followers will come! don’t focus on the amount of followers you have, focus on the intention behind the account.
what would your advice be to anyone starting an account like yours? it definitely takes time, so invest time and don’t give up. slow days don’t mean your account won’t be successful. make sure you’re running your account for the right reasons; you have an intention behind it that’s meaningful to you. monitor your content carefully. it can take me hours to find content sometimes, and that’s because i read through every quote before i post it and consider the reaction. i’m aware that some of my followers are having a hard time, and everything i share aims to help them, not hurt them. also, make sure to credit where you get your content! other accounts will really appreciate it, and it can even build a little community of quote pages for you to engage with. the last piece of advice i would offer is to make an account that you would want to follow. if your account isn’t something that seems appealing to you, why would other people follow it? take your time in developing the concept and username of the page. you got this!
what do you do besides running the instagram page? i’m a normal girl! i go to college, grab lunch with friends, study, do tons of homework, sleep, and repeat. i think a lot of my followers can forget that it’s an actual person posting the content they see every day, and it’s always fun to hop on instagram live and say hi. quick aside- it’s incredibly important to remember that there’s a real person behind every social media account, someone who has valid feelings and is going through real struggles. social media is an outlet for many people, as it is for me, and even if i don’t share a lot about myself online, i do read every comment and direct message i get and respond when i have a chance. use social media to spread positivity, rather than negativity.
who are some of your favorite instagram accounts to follow? three of my all time favorites are @pleasesmi1e, @lovelyquoting, and @choosing.positivity. their content never fails to bring a smile on my face, and the people that run them are incredibly amazing people.
